My First Walk to the Library as an Author

My Dear Readers,

You will NEVER guess where I went!!!! I went to the Brooklyn Public Library, my local branch.

With my book!!! Ahhhhh!!!!

I asked them if I could do…..AN AUTHOR EVENT there!!! I showed the lady my book and asked if I could do an Author Event there. I also asked if she thought they would take my book into the library.

The lady said to speak to the manager who will be back on Monday.

I came back it was raining ūüĆßūüĆß‚ėāÔłŹ‚ėāÔłŹ‚ėĒ‚ėĒūüĆßūüĆßūüĆßūüĆß I ran home to get dry. That’s New York weather for you…one minute it’s sunny and 86¬įF and the next it’s raining.

Anyway….I can not believe I did that!! I mean about going to the library and introducing myself as…”Hi, I am the author of this book…” I never thought I would ever say those words and it felt so good… I am the the author of this book, Book 1: Forbidden Love and I am proud of it.

I might go back on Monday so, I’ll update you on what happens.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Yours Truly,

My First Paperback Sale In The Neighborhood

My Dear Readers,

Today something spectacular happened. I sold my first book (signed, of course)!!!

Okay so, going to book signings might still be scary but I will try to go out ¬†to sell a few copies. Yes, I know my neighbors might look at me like I’m a bit crazy but really, I don’t care. Most of them might not read English but I don’t care, their kids might, right?

I JUST SOLD A COPY. The woman said, “I’ll learn English by reading your book.”

Tomorrow I’m going out. I have to try. Am I scared? Yes. I am but I put my first signature on a book!!! As Diana Rose.!!!!! It felt good. My legs were shaking but it felt good. I’m going to call the library and figure out when I can do a signing at my local Brooklyn Public Library.

Also, any authors here in Brooklyn, come and get a book signed. It may not be 20-30 people like a regular signing but at least help me out.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Yours Truly,

Happy Valentine’s Day

My Dear Future Readers,

Today is February 14th, Valentine’s day. I write about true love. How can I miss such a holiday that is dedicated to the feeling of Love? You are right. I can not miss it.

On this day, Love is celebrated and it is good to spend it with the one you love. I believe that Valentine’s Day is special in this way. True love is meant to be celebrated not only on this day but every day.

Love is a feeling that always needed no matter what is happening and on this day, Love for the people around you is more visible because it is the one day when you don’t have to be shy to show what is in your heart.

Take someone you love on a romantic date and sit in a cafe surrounded by candlelight. Give the woman you love a huge bouquet of roses. Or write a poem. Or best of all propose to her with a beautiful ring. No matter what the expression of love will be, it will be memorable because it was Valentine’s Day.

I write romance and read romance only because the way that a person cares for another person is the best expression of Love that there ever was.

happy-valentines-day-flowers-heart-graphic

The heart is made for feelings and it is indeed our heart that can never stay neutral to the attention we {women} receive on Valentine’s Day. It is this day that we want and crave the attention. I believe that every person in this world should give attention to the woman’s heart.

Yes, I am not in a relationship at this time but every year, I hope that someone will remember that a woman is a woman and a person who needs to be acknowledged. Maybe, some kind of magic will happen and one day, I, too will not be alone on this day.

The Day of Love is a day that should be for everyone and not just for couples. But I believe that Love is something that everyone feels and it doesn’t matter if you are in love or you are just spending the day with friends and family.

Today is a day to show love for the people who you love. ¬†Yes, many people are single but if you care about someone it doesn’t have to be lonely.

Valentine’s Day is a special and beautiful day.

Roses are the best symbol of love and Valentine’s Day. Red roses express romance and passion in the language of flowers.

Roses…Roses….Roses are in the dreams of every woman on Valentine’s Day. ¬†But for women who don’t have a relationship, ¬†they can just be happy to hear words of love from family.

On Valentine’s Day books about romance and true love are more than welcome in the arms of a woman. Reading about romance is almost the same as being loved. ¬†I should know that because I have been reading and writing romance all my life and I am yet to have a great romantic Valentine’s Day.

But as everything else in my life,  it will come when it is ready.  Love is a feeling that always takes time and I am still waiting for the right person to come.

However, on this Valentine’s Day, ¬†I want to ¬†say that I’m grateful for all the Love I have from my friends and family and you, ¬†my dear future readers ¬†because no matter how much I have to wait for the right person, ¬†I know that I have gained something more valuable and that is enough for me right now.

True love is meant to be celebrated not only on this day but every day.  Love is for everyone  and not  just a significant other.

Happy Valentine’s Day! ¬†May be lucky to find true love and hold onto it forever because it is a very rare find.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.  I thank you all for your infinite support.

Remembering My Grandparents Wedding Anniversary

My Dear Future Readers

Today is a very special day. Today is my grandparents 73rd Wedding Anniversary. Yes, they were married on February 1st. They are both gone now but my mom and I still remember this day. We spend the day talking and remembering what great people they were.

My grandfather served in WWII. He was the bravest man I have ever known. My grandfather was a rare optimist. He believed that no matter what everything would be alright. My grandfather was and forever will be my example of how a man should treat his wife and family.

My grandmother always worried about everything but she knew that my grandfather would make everything alright.  They lived a happy life because they understood each other and each of them made sure that the other was happy.

In their house, I felt at peace. It made me happy to see the kind of love they shared. They were an example of the kind of love that can only be identified as true love. Yes, true love. My grandparents story is a real story of true love.

My grandmother once said, “He is my husband, my doctor, my angel, and just a good person.”

That touched me and I know that she meant every word.  My grandfather was always taking care of her. They took care of each other.

My grandmother loved telling me her parent’s story which I wrote down in a blog post (¬†Forbidden Fruit of the Heart).

I miss going to see them. It was always reassuring to talk to my grandparents. ¬†Their relationship was a love story in itself that I can never forget. It feels like they are sitting right here with me on some days even though they are gone, my mom and I still remember this day and celebrate the day talking and remembering them. We eat and talk about all the good memories. There really isn’t anything bad that I can say.

Each of them have taught me about life and love. I miss them both and I really hope that they are proud of me wherever they are.

I remember singing old songs with my grandfather would make my grandmother happy. He loved singing for her. Wherever I think of them, I think of how they always wanted me to be successful.

My grandparents story was made into this blog post,¬†A Beautiful Love Story by Geetan Jalihad ¬†for Valentine’s Day because I want everyone to know what beautiful people they were. There are no other two people like them anymore but I do hope that my books show how true love can be real because I saw it everyday when my grandparents were alive. Those memories will stay forever.

Happy 73rd Wedding Anniversary! I miss you both so much. We love you and remember you forever.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

The Rewrite Of Pond Water Prince

My Dear Future Readers:

Today, I want to talk about rewrites.

What are rewrites?

Rewrites are edits that you do and you rework the plot in a different way. Recently, I have been working on rewrites for a chapter¬† in Book 1: Forbidden Love. Trust me, it’s better the way I rewrote it. But that is not the point of this post. Not at all.

I want to tell you about my favorite evil doer. ¬†Why? Because, every book has an evil doer and some may not be evil at first. ¬†“Bad guys” are written to bring out the heroic attitude in the main character. I never thought that writing “bad guys ” could be fun. ¬†But as I was rewriting a scene in one of my chapters, ¬†I realized that ¬†my character is really fun for me to rewrite because even though he is evil, ¬†he makes me laugh.

As a result, I realized that for a villain to be great, his language has to be great as well. Which means that I as an author have to write dialogue that would fit my ¬†“Mister Bad Guy” perfectly. Let me tell you that creating beautifully written dialogue for a villain is hard. But not impossible.

Pond Water Prince was my first book bad guy and he is special to me for that reason.  Going over the chapters that involve him is a special edit to me. I can tell you as an author who has completed Book 1 and 2 and yes out of those two books Pond Water Prince will always be special to me. Not only because he was my first person to create evil plots but also because of the challenge he gave me while I was writing about him. I had to overcome the standard bad guy model and create who was all my own and believable to my readers.

I had to think outside the box. After all, there are a lot of villains out there in the world of fairy-tales who have earned their place in our hearts. I knew that  my character had to be unique, therefore his motives had to be extraordinary.

“What does Pond Water Prince Want??”

I thought  about this for a long time in the beginning of the chapter. My evil character had to be going after something so important to him that he would do anything to get it. Trust me, that was not easy to come up with at first but then I thought about my elderly grandparents Рwho were still alive at the time that I began my book Рit became clear to me then. So, I wrote the first thought that came to mind.

Next thing I needed was the way he would achieve his goal. That was a little easier since a lot of people kidnapped people and it would be something real that anyone could relate to in my book. Of course, I have to say that having Pond Water Prince as a name was kind of funny to me at first but it fit him. So, I thought that what he did in the book would be able to grab my future readers. I mean, really….What do you think of when you hear the name Pond Water Prince? Is it a name that is associated with someone nice? Or is it a person you would run away from?

That’s how I usually choose names for my bad guys. So, you se that as an author I have to be careful about naming the characters properly or otherwise they lose the effect of a villain.¬† That’s why I love my first ever bad guy and I hope you will love to hate him too.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Where Do I Find My Ideas?

My Dear Future Readers,

Recently, I was asked where I get my ideas from. An interesting question really. Which is why I want to write this post.

Have you ever heard of the phrase, ¬†ideas are everywhere”? I find that this is more true every day. ¬†It is not about finding ideas really ¬†but about finding inspiration to write those ideas down on paper. Or,in my case on this post. ¬†Sometimes, it admit it is hard to find one idea to write. But, I try to think about what I would want to read and that helps me write. ¬†In some cases, it takes longer time but it really doesn’t matter how long it takes, what matters is that you have ideas.

For example, the ideas I am writing down now in my book came really unexpectedly that I me. ¬†Those are the best kind of ideas if I were to be honest with you. ¬†Sometimes, the euphoric ideas are the ones that help you write faster. Now, that is not to say that every author has to write only when they get a euphoric idea. I’m saying that a euphoric idea helps to add words to the story faster. ¬†Authors should write everyday no matter what. It helps to come up with ideas faster when you are already in the process of writing something.

Passion about the things that you are writing about is also important. ¬†Why? Because if you are passionate about the subject you are writing about, ¬†you can find more to say about it. Passion about anything makes a person seem more interesting. For example, when I talk about my book, Book 1: Forbidden Love ¬†or another book that I am writing in the series, I begin to sound different as though I can talk about my ideas for hours if I am not stopped. That is what passion is. ¬†I think that many of us forget about this because we find less things to be passionate about in today’s world. ¬†But it really doesn’t matter what you are passionate about whether it is art, music, ¬†dance, ¬†literature, ¬†reading, ¬†writing or something else, ¬†passion is a good thing to have.

I think if you are writing or making art you also need to learn discipline.  Now, it does not mean you have to force yourself to sit and make art every day for the fear that someone will come and beat you with a ruler like in the old times. No. I mean that you have to devote time to the activity. Enough time to accomplish something that you can be proud of later.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Soulmates Are Forever

My Dear Future Reader,

¬†Today, I want to talk to you about soulmates. ¬†Somewhere in this world there are people who are destined to be together. Sometimes, you can live your life and never meet your soulmate. But, some people who are lucky, get to meet the one who they will spend the rest of their lives with. ¬†It’s the one person who you feel extremely close with and who you trust 100%.

Soulmates are extremely rare in today’s world, rare to find and that is why I decided to write this blog post. No, I did not find my soulmate as of yet (stop looking at me like I’m crazy to be writing about things I have not found yet). But, I do plan to find my soulmate. It is not as easy as putting in a search engine like Google looking for a soulmate¬†and millions of options show up. Many people look for years before they find one who they were meant to be with.

But you know me, I always have hope for a better day. It is not easy at times but I figure that it is better to smile than it is to cry. Besides crying is bad for the health of the person. That is why I choose not to cry. ¬†My soulmate is somewhere out there and I believe that he is looking for me. In today’s world, it’s important to not give up on hope.

That is why I write about true love. For true love is unimportant who you are as long the person truly loves you. Even if he isn’t a prince with a crown, he could still love you. Happiness can come from anywhere and you just have to recognize it. The right people for you may not be right for anyone else and that is why they are called soulmates. Every soul has their own mate and who they want to live their life with. ¬†I am a firm believer of a true match made when people first meet.

Of course, if that person is not ¬†the soulmate of your life, there will be signs that can’t be ignored. You need to be open to seeing these signs before things get too out of control. But, on the eother hand, sometimes people are too blinded by their feelings to see the obvious signs that the person is not their soulmate at all. The hardest aspect is of course finding your soulmate because it is like “looking for a needle in a haystack.” But that does not mean that it is impossible.

My suggestion is to allow yourself to have an open mind the next time you think that you found your true true love because the signs are always going to point you in the right direction.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Yours truly,

Diana Rose
