Lesson 16: Appreciate Your Readers

My Dear Future Readers,

I want to say something very important.

Authors write books so people can read and enjoy them.

I believe that readers deserve respect. Readers make the books a success. But no matter what, the author works hard to make the books that the readers hold. Editing isn’t easy or fast. It takes time and thought to make the book sound good. Trust me, no one wants to read the first draft of a book that hasn’t been edited.

The authors, no matter how a large following they have, edit all their books. But writing and editing is only the beginning. Once you write, you need to show your work which is scary. Yes, then, once all the long edits are done, it takes some time for the cover and once that pretty cover is done you publish. That’s the scariest of all.

“What will my readers think?”

“Will my book sell?”

“Will my readers like my book?”

Trust me, after all that self-doubt is done, you begin again. The hardest part is starting over. But if your readers love you, they will stay.

I believe that authors who wrote multiple books are heroes who overcame their self-doubt. I am writing again which is why I think that doing this full time and writing books is what makes authors heroes. They never stop at one book. They build on that one book and go farther.

And in turn readers should be celebrated. For all the love that they show. If you read a book you like, tell the author, thank you for working so hard to write it. Trust me, authors are people too and they have feelings too. Books take time but a simple thank you makes us, authors want to write more.

These kinds of readers are beautiful to the author. I want to thank my own group of readers for staying with me for so long because I wouldn’t be here without them. I would not even be an author if I didn’t have a reader following me. My future readers are an awesome group of people who support me so much. I love them.

I want to say thank you to all my readers.  I feel so much love from them in times of stress and doubt. They make me want to keep going. I always write new things for them. Because I love that that my readers, even though my book  isn’t out yet, support me and encourage me to keep writing.

Readers are the best support in the world and I am proud to be a part of the author community because I always fel so much love from authors as well. No other career is as rewarding as being an author.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Lesson # 11: Remember… Nothing Is Impossible

My Dear Future Readers,

One thing that I learned is that nothing is impossible. A long time ago, I would have said that I don’t believe in certain things. But now, I seen impossible things happen. I know one thing…if you believe in something it will happen.

So, onto today’s lesson…

Lesson # 11: Remember…Nothing Is Impossible.

“Impossible things happen everyday.” I fully believe that. I think the fact that my book has come so far and is finished with edits–which I thought was impossible at certain times. But the best things in life usually seem impossible at first.

The first thing that you need to remember is that the things that we think are impossible at first, can be possible.  If I had no belief that my book would be published,  I would not gotten through everything I went through because I would have given up a long time ago. But I believed it was possible and here I am. No matter what,  belief makes things possible.

The second thing to remember is that no matter how long it takes, the impossible things that you  believe in will happen.  My grandpa always said that and to be honest, I believe him now. Not that I didn’t believe him before, I just had big dreams.

I think that that the bigger your dreams, the less possible they seem. But, the important thing is to aim big.

Because when you “aim big” you have bigger aspirations for your life.  It helps you create a better future for yourself.  So believe that nothing is impossible to achieve because it really isn’t.  Unless you want to be a ballerina and you don’t know how to dance. Be realistic and aim high.

Someone who I admire a lot once told me…

“You will be a Bestselling Author one day.” -Dmitry Belenky, LMHC.

To be honest, I was a teenager then and he was the first person to challenge me with my writing. He was the first person to tell me….

“Don’t write in all capital letters.Try writing by only capitalizing the first letter of the sentence like in all the books you read.” -Dmitry Belenky, LMHC.

You know what? I tried it and even though it seemed hard and impossible to me, over time with practice, it became easier.  I found that I enjoyed writing this way better than what I was doing. Now imagine if I continued to write the way I was used to, I would not be an author.  I don’t know yet if I will be a Bestselling Author but I don’t think it is completely impossible right now. There’s nothing stopping me from going for that dream as well.

As my very first editor said:

“Keep writing. ” -Susan Ednie,  Professor of Psychology at Kingsborough Community College.

That is what I am doing everyday of my life now. I thought being a full-time author was an impossible dream but here I am doing this full time.

Impossible things happen everyday.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Yours Truly,

My Interview on Passion Between the Pages with Jessica Lauryn

My Dear Future Readers

On Friday, June 30th, I was interviewed by Jessica Lauryn. I had interviewed her some time ago when she first published A Passionate Play. You can reread her interview here: Interview with Jessica Lauryn about A Passionate Play. I was happy to bring Jessica Lauryn on my blog and until now I did not have a chance to come to her blog until Friday.  You can read my interview on Passion Between the Pages here: Passion Between the Pages.

My Experience as in Interviewee:

When I was asked if I wanted to be interviewed. I instantly agreed. Why? Because, one: I know Jessica Lauryn for a very long time and we are good friends. Second, I loved the questions that Jessica Lauryn asked. I was excited to share with Ms. Lauryn things about my book. I wanted to make sure that people know where the idea for Book 1: Forbidden Love and the Power of Love series came from because for a long time I have not said anything about this to anyone.

Because I thought it was too soon to start talking about the ideas and inspiration for this series. But, now as I edit the book, I began to open up to the public about my inspiration for the Power of Love series. I believe that it is important for people to know that ideas for books don’t just come out of thin air. Different authors find inspiration for their books in different places.

I find my inspiration from my family’s history and the stories that my grandparents told me. I think it is important to respect the stories and love of those people who cared enough to tell you their story.

I think that my experience as an interviewee was a wonderful thing because I felt like my ideas and my words were not taken lightly and received the respect they deserved. Also, I feel like I gained more future readers after the interview than before it. That makes me happy. I wanted to reach more people and I think I did that and for that I am grateful to Jessica Lauryn. I hope to have Jessica Lauryn interview me again one day soon or I will interview her. It’s always good to have authors as friends.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Her Knight In Shining Armor

My Dear Future Readers,

A little girl dreams of a Knight in Shining Armor. A Prince who would carry her off to a beautiful castle where they would live happily ever after. As a young girl who enjoyed watching Disney movies and reading old fairy tales, I, too believed in this dream. After all, isn’t it grand to be carried off into the sunset by a dashing gentleman who risked his life to save you?

A person, usually a man, who comes to the aid of another, usually a woman, in a gallant and courteous manner.

Yes, it is. But as we grow up that dream fades because we realize fairy tales are not real. Fairy tales don’t have to be real to make you believe. You believe because you know that fairy tales were there when you needed someone to prove that good things really exist. So, you believe in the Prince who would take you away and make your life beautiful. It is that exact image that every girl grows up with. Painting a picture in her head of a handsome Knight in Shining Armor who would fight to protect her with his own life.

But each of us have our own Prince. Meaning, when the time is “right” he will come. Yes, I can understand that many of us, women don’t want to wait. So, we go out looking but I believe that if true love is meant to find you, you don’t have to look too hard because he will find you.

I believe that a knight in shining armor does exist. Maybe, the prince has forgotten the fairy tales and therefore forgotten about looking for his princess. It happens. In fact, people say “you need to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.” Maybe, there is some truth to it but perhaps it is not the only thing.

Knights should be brave, confident, and come to the rescue. So far, I have not met a man like that. It feels like that kind of person is rare and at times, my girlish dreams seem wrong. But, I want what I want and I know that if I stop wanting to meet a person like that, I will never meet him.

I know it seems silly, but I believe in getting my own magical fairy tale happy ending and yes, it may make you laugh but I do believe in happily ever after.

Because in the world that we live in everything is sometimes really gloomy and unfeeling. The sentiments of romance and  a happily ever after  ending is rarely visited if only in fairy tales and that is why we must  strive to believe in a happily ever after. In the words of actress, Ginnifer Goodwin who plays Snow White in Once Upon A Time:

“What are fairy tales? Fairy tales are a sense of hope that one day everything will be okay and that a happily ever after does exist.”

This  is why I strongly believe in happily ever after and knights in shining armor. After all, knights in shining armor are a wonderful representation of fairy tales and dreams  and hope.  Sometimes, it is this hope that dreams come true that pushes us to go forward and achieve something that  we thought was impossible.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Separated and In Love

My Dear Future Readers:

“Whenever we are apart it feels like part of me is missing……..and then I remember that you have my heart.”

Today I want want to talk to you about separated love.

Yes, love can be different. Love is beautiful in it’s own way. Love is a kind and gentle feeling. And when someone loves a person, they are willing to do anything for that person. Whatever it takes to make the other person happy.

However today, I want to explore the idea of separated love. Separated love occurs when to people who are meant to be together are not able to be together due to obstacles or other people. If that person really loves the other he will always find a way to reunite. After all if two people are meant to be together, they will be together in the end.

Of course, separation is not easy to overcome. Both people feel a pull to be together and yet they have to let time pass before they find each other again. During that time of separation, it is a test of their love to see how strongly they will fight to stay together. Like in my first novel, Book 1: Forbidden Love, love proves to be stronger than the obstacle of separation.

Separated love happens in life and in books. But love always comes out on top.

I look forward too hearing from you soon. Please leave comments. I thank you all for you infinite support.

Yours truly,
