My Dear Readers,
Today, it brings me great joy to do a review for one of my most favorite authors ever!!! I never dreamed that I would even become friends with this lady because she is so famous, I was afraid that I would not be able to measure up to her. Years ago, I have read her first book series, The Immortal Series. I fell in love with her writing and ever since I wanted to be like her. Her characters, let me just say that her stories just take you inside and make you a part of the story.
Reviewing one of her books is an awesome honor for me. Becoming her friend on Facebook and interacting with her on all social media was a dream come true and now it is real. Even though, I’m a starting out Author with only one book, I feel like an equal with the most well-known author of all, Alyson Noel. Reading one of her books after so long feels like I have come home to an old friend. Her language is creative as always and easy to understand.
Radiance: A Riley Bloom Book
Riley has crossed the bridge into the afterlife—a place called Here, where time is always Now. She has picked up life where she left off when she was alive, living with her parents and dog in a nice house in a nice neighborhood. When she’s summoned before The Council, she learns that the afterlife isn’t just an eternity of leisure. She’s been assigned a job, Soul Catcher, and a teacher, Bodhi, a possibly cute, seemingly nerdy boy who’s definitely hiding something. They return to earth together for Riley’s first assignment, a Radiant Boy who’s been haunting a castle in England for centuries. Many Soul Catchers have tried to get him to cross the bridge and failed. But all of that was before he met Riley . . .
Radiance is the first book in the Riley Bloom series from bestselling author Alyson Noël
Five Star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Review
Honestly, I would give her 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars for the first book in this series.
Because after I read the first book in this series, The Riley Bloom Series, I began to have a brand new appreciate for Alyson Noel’s imagination. Yes, Radiance is written for a young age group but the things that Riley is faced with, the way she and her guide Bodhi build their relationship, the way the author engaged and transported me into the world of the Here and Now so seamlessly is incredibly amazing.
I felt like I was a part of the story from the beginning. Riley’s journey through the world of the Here and Now is a very unique experience. This book introduced me to the idea that the afterlife may actually exist and even though we all may have our own ideas about it, I think that Alyson Noel describes that world with a lot of imagination and makes it fun for the reader. The way that Riley Bloom explores her own abilities with the help of Bodhi is unlike anything else. For example, traveling to London to help a ghost boy cross over to the other side, wow! I was impressed how she managed to incorporate real world places into a book set in a fantasy world.
Alyson Noel has written about London in such a way that I could actually see myself there. When Riley met the Radiant boy, I could actually feel the fear, see the images of snakes and other things that he recreated to scare her. But, then as I read on and became even more immersed in the world, I could feel the pain and feel myself drowning in sorrow along with Bodhi and his assigned ghost. I felt everything through the words on each page and I think in that lies the true art of the word and the one who holds the pen, to write in a way that you no longer feel a divide between yourself and the book. In that I believe is the talent of Alyson Noel.
This is exactly why I LOVE reading Alyson Noel’s books. She mesmerizes me with her words and makes me feel like I am right there in the action. Even I as an Author can still learn from her how to make my own Readers fall into the book with my words.
