Let’s Celebrate Love on Valentine’s Day

valentines-day-gift-ideas-for-her-1050x700My Dear Readers,

Today is February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is meant for lovers, right? In a traditional way, yes. But, since I am still single and no, I’m not ashamed to admit it because it’s who I am, I am trying to look at love from all different angles. Love has different meanings for everyone.

On February 14th, if you are like me, try to think about the different people in your life: your parents, your siblings, your friends, your other family members, anyone who you love. A day that centers around love is a great day. I believe that to love and to be loved is the best thing in life. When I look around at my friends, I can sometimes see that they have found someone who loves them and that alone gives me hope that one day it will happen for me.

20190214_032027My grandparents were married for 63 years before my grandmother died and you know what? Their love story is the greatest love story I have ever heard. Love always finds a way. I believe in true love because of my grandparents and I know that people who are meant to be together will be.  My deepest wish always was to find someone who would love me like my grandfather loved my grandmother. They were one of a kind people but they taught me a lot about true love.

One day, I do hope that love will finally find me as well. I write about true love and I want to live it someday. As the song goes, “Someday my prince will come, someday I will find my love and what a thrilling moment it will be when the prince of my dreams comes to me…..” if only that was true. But I guess I won’t find out today. Love will come when it’s ready.

But for now, I love my family and friends and my FANTASTIC readers. So, no matter what you do today, know that someone loves you. Someone cares about you. Someone wants you to be happy. True love never disappoints so let it come and treasure it. I love you all so much. Thank you for being here with me and joining me as I write my books!

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Yours truly,

Diana Rose

Excerpt #2 from Book 1: Forbidden Love

My Dear Readers,

Today is Saturday and I promised you an excerpt from Book 1: Forbidden Love.  I hope you enjoy it.

Excerpt from Book 1: Forbidden Love by Diana Rose

As he helped Amy fold her clothes into her chest, Darien sat up straight on her bed, remembering that he had brought her a gift. He put his hand into his suit jacket. “I want to give you something special,” he said as he took out a small, but beautiful box.

“Oh, Darien, you shouldn’t have. All I want is you,” Amy exclaimed, as she carefully took the box so as to not drop it.

“Please accept this gift. Open it when you arrive at your new home.”

“Of course. I promise you.” Amy leaned against Darien and smiled at him. She felt, somewhere deep in her heart, that this was not the last time she would see Darien.

Her bags were packed and ready to go. Darien had said his farewell and left without a sound through her window. In case her parents were home, Darien did not want to get yelled at for coming to see Amy. The window was his only way out. When he left and Amy was sure no one had seen him, she took the box that contained Darien’s gift and placed it inside her handbag along with her hair accessories.

A few hours later, Amy stood by her carriage and said goodbye to her family. She was leaving to an unknown world. She did not know what to expect from the other castle that was so far from her family–and especially Darien. We could’ve been so happy together. I miss him already. Oh how he used to hold me! And those eyes, I’ll never forget those eyes. How could my mother do this to me? Does she not have a heart? What is Darien is my soulmate? Would she be able to live with herself knowing that she is tried separating two people that are meant to be together? Amy’s thoughts jumbled around in her head, making her unable to focus on anything else. All she wanted was to turn back and see Darien again. As she sat in the carriage, Amy sadly realized that with every hoof beat she was being driven farther away from her true love.

Excerpt from Book 1: Forbidden Love

My Dear Readers,

After careful consideration, I decided to bring back the excerpts I posted on my Author Page. This was the first one I posted yesterday from Book 1: Forbidden Love.

The first thing that halted Amy were the blue eyes that penetrated her entire being. The captivating gaze had an almost magical quality about them which mesmerized her. Her heartbeat quickened. Air was trapped inside her lungs as she held her breath in anticipation–for what was the question she did not know the answer to. She shook her head and pulled herself out of the trance-like state she had not realized she had been in.

When she looked into those large pools of blue, Amy felt her heartbeat in her ears. The entire universe seemed to disappear, leaving them alone in all its vastness. Then, Amy saw a silver crown nestled on top of his ebony hair. She seemed to wake up from the spell they were both under as she realized he was a prince. This realization came with many questions Amy had no answers to. What kingdom is he from? Confusion set in as to who the young man was and where he had come from.

His face glowed in the sunshine. She could tell he was also confused. Pale red lips seemed to fit his skin tone to perfection. With broad shoulders that made his height look larger, he seemed slightly taller than her. His arms showed that he had been trained in sword fighting or running to keep himself fit. The mysterious prince wore a light blue suit with a white rose pinned to its pocket. A crisp white shirt was visible under the suit jacket. His cleanly polished shoes reflected the sun on their black surface.

“Who are you?” Amy backed away from the strange being slowly, unsure of whether or not he was dangerous.

“You have nothing to fear,” the young man reassured. However, the princess was not yet convinced

Which is better fantasy or reality?

My Dear Readers,

I was infinitely insulted and shocked by what happened to me today. I heard someone say that I should live more in the real world and that fantasy and magic is crap. That made me angry. I mean I have known great movies and books set in fiction and Fantasy and as an Author of the YA Fantasy Romance genre it hit me hard. So, I decided to speak out against this question.

“Excuse me, but I write YA Fantasy Romance and real life is not always fun. It can be scary and hurtful and painful, ” I said.

To what I heard, “But you can’t live in Fantasy all the time”

You know what, living always in the real world without wanting to escape somewhere.  The real world can be dangerous and hurtful and painful. It is true that real life has some good moments too but if we stop reading, stop watching movies about fantasy, stop dreaming about what can be the worst thing is that you become too focused on bills and responsiblities that you forget about it at all. Actors and musicians and writers and filmmakers would just be unnecessary.

My question is, “Do YOU want to live in a mundane, black and white world where fantasy and magic as well as all forms of art and music and film are reality based, or not existent at all?”

I know that as an Author, this subject hit me hard in my feelings because I can’t imagine life without fantasy, or even watching one real life based movie because I would just breakdown crying. I don’t argue that reality is bad but really we have to know how much of the real world each of us can handle. I know that I can’t handle much of real life. There are things that real life throws at us whether we want it or not and sometimes it becomes too overwhelming.

Like Marnie (Kimberly J Brown) in Halloweentown 2 said, “For each of us, our own path decide…”

I may not know much but I believe that too much real life is harmful to the brain because the brain becomes tense and being too stressed is not good for anyone. But again, believing in fantasy is just a way to celebrate the imagination of someone. Don’t limit yourself to the real world, keep believing in Fantasy because we all need it, (some people more than others).

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

Lesson #22: Big Decisions

My Dear Readers,

Big decisions are a lik ways hard to make,  aren’t they? For me, September 2018 marks the biggest decision of my writing career.  The fact that I decided to talk about it now is interesting.  I thought I would make this post sooner but as it is…I am writing this now in December.

In September,  I decided that I would publishing my book as a self published Author. As soon I made that decision to be self published,  I felt free. I want to thank Karen D. Neal for helping me make this possible because encouragement really helps when big decisions are being made. Right now, after a few months of being self published and doing all this for myself,  I have learned a few things…

1. Don’t worry if you get something wrong, you can always fix it.

2. Don’t be afraid to try. If you don’t try,  you won’t know what you can do.

3. Keep learning.  There’s a lot of things that you don’t know yet but if you want to make your dream come true,  keep trying.

4. If you see an opportunity, take it.

5. Learn to do as you go. Nothing is impossible.

6. Keep dreaming big… the biggest dream comes true slowly.

7. DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP. Help and encourage is important.

Of course,  there is a whole list of things. But I feel that these are the most important things that I have learned so far. Life has a lot to teach and honestly I have just started my self publishing journey. I think what I am saying is that no matter how big or small the decision, if you don’t make it, somebody else will make that decision for you. You are in charge of your own life as long as you make the decisions no matter how big or small they are.  I should be saying this to myself as well.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I thank you all for your infinite support.

My Dear Readers,

Oh my goodness! One day! One day  until Book 1: Forbidden Love is rereleased on October 15th…..Someone please tell me that I am not dreaming because it still feels like a dream.

Yes,  I am going to be making Book 1: Forbidden Love available in paperback.  Because for anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE paperbacks! I do. I collect paperback books. So, of course,  there will be paperback books.

For those who love ebooks, ebooks will be available too. I will have both versions of the book for purchase on Amazon. TOMORROW IS THE DAY!

Tomorrow will be the busy day for me. Because I am doing this for the first time, I’ll have to figure this out. I will post as soon as I can get everything uploaded to Amazon. Wish me luck tomorrow.
